What is SPAM?

Spam is the terminology used for mass electronic mail that is sent without the consent of the receiver (user). Spam messages do not bring about much cost the sender. The actual charge of spam messages is on the receiving party in terms of occupation of system resources and the time wasted on attending such messages by the user.

Spam is one of the most pressing issues faced by internet users. The CC inhibits spam e-mail to arrive at user accounts in order to guard limited system resources and the users.

The CC may and will put into use the below mentioned sanctions against those parties who send spam messages.

  • Spam messages may be filtered and their arrival at user accounts can be prevented.
  • All e-mail traffic that is received from e-mail servers that are known to send spam may be prohibited.
  • All e-mail traffic from internet service providers which let spam mail to be sent via their web may be stopped.
  • All web traffic of the internet service provider announced with the spam messages may be brought to an end.

Measures against Spam:

A spam filter known as the Spamassasin is utilized by the CC on the central server systems in order to distinguish spam from all the in coming e-mail. E-mail identified as spam by the Spamassasin is directed to an allocated e-mail box, called the SPAMBOX, located under the mail folder of the account of the recipient.
