MARC and MENTAT are Finite Element Analysis software which provide many opportunities in engineering applications while solving both linear and non-linear problems. MARC is a post-processor for MENTAT. Installation of PC Version: Software is available for Windows and Linux at ftp://ftp.cc.metu.edu.tr/PackagePrograms/Msc/. All MSC software installations require network licensing: 1700@msc.cc.metu.edu.tr should be entered when installation asks for a license sever (msc.cc.metu.edu.tr is the license server and 1700 is the port number). Using on AIX:2003 version of MARC is installed on orca, rorqual and narwhal, 2005 version of MARC is installed on tasman and beluga. MENTAT needs an X-Windows environment(*), and you can run MENTAT2003 on orca, rorqual and narwhal and you can run MENTAT2005 on tasman and beluga systems. You can start a MENTAT session by entering the following command; Manuals for both MARC and MENTAT are available in CC-Library. Also you are able to get the PC versions of the program source from the following address: ftp://ftp.cc.metu.edu.tr/PackagePrograms/Msc/ Notice: Users, who would connect to the FTP licensed software site with a browser other than Internet Explorer, shall write ftp://user_name@ftp.cc.metu.edu.tr to the address line. Due to the license agreements that are made, this site is accessible to METU personnel only. After the installation, the users should open the "Environment Variables" window by following this path: Control Panel --> System --> Advanced --> Environment Variables and then following variables should be checked: "LM_LICENSE_FILE" and/or "MSC_LICENSE_FILE" variables should be; "1700@beluga.cc.metu.edu.tr" Frequently Asked Questions About Msc.
