Smart Card Project

The identification card of METU personnel and students are equipped with smart card technology. Smart card is a plastic card which contains a microchip and an antenna. In your identificaiton card there is a 1 KB memory and a microprocessor with an operating systems written over a ROM.

There are two main application area of smart card project at our campus; elektronic wallet and elektronic identification

Through elektronic wallet applications, you can transfer money from your Is Bank account and use it in the following facilities:

• Table d’ote and à la carte bill payment at the Cafeteria,

• Application fees (horizontal transfers, private student), transcript fees, authorized document duplicate fees, diploma charges, diploma ceremony robe hires, identification card costs, academic year windshield sticker charges, EGO (public transport) discount stamp fees, student certificate fees, EPE fee (English Proficiency Exam) payment at the Student Affairs Office,

• Palm order and bill payment at the Social Lounge,

• A la carte bill payment at the Social Lounge,

• Palm order and bill payment at the Faculty Club,

• Sports centre entry and course fee payment at the Sport Center,

• The fitness hall and the synthetic field entry fees payment at the Baraka Gymnasium,

• The sauna, the open-air swimming pool and the covered swimming pool entry fee payment at the Pool,

• Buying print out quotas to be used in the Computer Center PC rooms and buying CDs or booklets of Computer Center publications at the Computer Center,

• Fine payment for overdue books at the Library,

In order to benefit from these services, you need to;

• Link your card with your Is Bank account

• Transfer money from your account to your card

using Is Bank cüzdanmatik machines placed at several areas on campus.
