MATHCAD

Mathcad is a tool for applying mathematics. It provides an environment of inherent interactivity, featuring:
  A familiar scratchpad interface,
  Real math notation,
  Automatic recalculation that allows for immediate feedback,
  Fully integrated project components.

Mathcad automatically updates results. It integrates text, math, and graphics into a single worksheet to visualize, illustrate, and annotate all the calculations.

Mathcad runs on PC platform (MS Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7).

Installation source is available at licensed software FTP site:

You also can get the DVD of the program from CC-Library (Room No:109).

Notice: Users, who would connect to the FTP licensed software site with a browser other than Internet Explorer, shall write ftp://user_name@ftp.cc.metu.edu.tr to the address line. Due to the license agreements that are made, this site is accessible to METU personnel only.

Mathcad 15 Installation:

1-) The directory containing software setup (mathcad15) should be downloaded from ftp.cc  to PC's. For information about how to download directories (folders) by ftp, see: ftp.cc'den Yazılım İndirme (In Turkish)

2- Run setup.exe in the mathcad15 folder, click next button twice and click "Mathcad" link in the window with the title "Select Product to be installed". At this step; the possible instructions and warnings about Microsoft.NET Framework and MSXML versions required for installation will be followed and these prerequisite software should be installed by clicking the links provided by the setup. After the installations of these completed, you can proceed to Mathcad setup. If necessary re-run setup.exe, the installation will proceed from the latest step.

4- In the following step, in the window titled as "FLEXnet license servers", click "Add" button and select "Single license server" option. For License Server:

license.cc.metu.edu.tr  should be entered (in case of access problems to the license server try 144.122.202.5 ip address).

"server port" is 7788.

5- Click next button twice and the setup will begin to file copying process before completing the installation.

Mathcad 14 Installation:

1-) Run "setup.exe" from the CD or Mathcad 14 directory that has been downloaded. Select "Install Mathcad 14" option in the next window

2-) Enter "product code" click "next" (serial_product_code.txt file in the CD or Mathcad14 directory.

3-) Select installation folder/directory in your computer. Proceed to the license server information window which is "Mathcad License Setup".

Select "use a license server" option

For "servername" enter license.cc.metu.edu.tr or 144.122.202.5

For "server port" enter 7788 .

Note: The license server service for Mathcad at ccntserver.cc.metu.edu.tr or 144.122.202.4 will be discontinued soon, please change license server information to  license.cc.metu.edu.tr in older installations of Mathcad.

Mathcad 13 Installation:

1-) Run "setup.exe" from the CD or Mathcad 13 directory that has been dowloaded. Select "Install Mathcad 13" option,
2-) After the setup completed, license server information window will appear the when software is run for the first time.

Enter @ccntserver for the license server.

3-) To edit the hosts file located at "\Windows\system32\drivers\etc", "\Windows" or "\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc" directory (location depends on the operating system) is recommended. Using Notepad or Wordpad, add the following line to the file

144.122.202.4 ccntserver

Please DO NOT cut/copy and paste the above line. You should type it once again in to the file.

Not: The above modification of hosts file is not required for versions before the Mathcad 11.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mathcad

Q: Mathcad 15 and 14 on Windows 7 and Vista OS do not draw or display 3D plots; what is the solution?

A:  Right click the blank frame of the graph which should contain the plot,  unclick the small box for "Borders".

Q: I want to use the software from outside METU. How can I do it?
A: METU is bound by the restrictions which are arranged and specified expressly in the terms of software license agreements. According to these agreements, the licensed software can only be used solely for academic purposes and strictly within the boundaries of METU. It is expressly forbidden to use the software from outside METU.
